We follow a safer recruitment protocol at school for the recruitment of staff for both paid work and volunteers. This extends throughout the recruitment process but also in the ethos we embed with all people working within our school that all our children and staff/volunteers have the right to be safe and feel safe in our school.

All our paid jobs are advertised either on Calderdale.gov.uk recruitment website, our web site or locally depending on the role.

When applying for any job at Savile Park you must complete the relevant application form, CVs will not be accepted. If you have any gaps in your employment you must ensure you give details about why.

Please refer closely to the person specification of the role you are applying for when completing the knowledge/skills and experience section of the application form, giving details of how you meet the person specification with specific examples.

We require two referees for all roles, it is your responsibility to ensure these are provided and will be able to give a reference. Please give an email address for your referee as it makes contact easier.

Volunteers/placements

We welcome applications for volunteers and placements. If you are at college/university and wish to do your placement here as part of your course you need to email school directly stating the name of the course, reason for placement, duration and why you would like your placement at Savile Park. We will contact your college to verify the need for your placement and that they recommend you as a suitable candidate in school. We will then invite you into school for an informal interview. You must have an enhanced DBS completed by your university/college for your course prior to being able to start your placement.

We consider volunteers who are not studying as we recognise that some people need work experience or are considering a career change and want to try it out first. In this situation you need to complete a volunteers application form and provide information regarding why you want to volunteer at Savile Park Primary School. You need to provide two referees who will contact prior to your interview. You will also need to complete an enhanced DBS with school as our governors have decided that for all placement/volunteers an enhanced DBS must be in place prior to the placement starting.

All volunteers/placements have an induction to school which covers our behaviour expectations, child protection etc.

Volunteers/placements complete a placement agreement contract and confidentiality agreement. We reserve the right to end any placements/volunteers without notice.

We welcome applications from year 10 work experience.

Please note we do not always accept placements from ex Savile Park Primary School pupils because we want work experience for year 10/12 pupils to be a meaningful insight into work; returning to the familiar environment of your old primary school, with a great many of the same teachers and staff, does not provide a realistic ‘snapshot’ of a professional environment. We believe that, if you are keen to experience work in an educational setting, it would be much more beneficial to get an insight into a different environment so you learn that each school is unique

When we receive your application form we will consider it and request a reference from your tutor. We will then invite you in for an informal interview and induction prior to the start of your placement.
