Headteacher: Mrs J Boylan
At Savile Park Primary we enrich the curriculum for our children by offering a range of educational visits and other activities that add to and complement what they learn in school. There are also a number of people who visit the school to support our work. Some visits relate directly to areas of learning for individual classes, whilst others relate to all our children.
As part of their topic for this half term year 3 visited The Piece Hall to take part in a curriculum workshop. The workshop took the children on a journey through the building’s fascinating past; from its roots in medieval times through to its eighteenth century beginnings.
Year 3 went to Cliffe Castle to launch their Ancient Egypt topic. We had a brilliant day and got to have a look at some of the amazing artefacts that are kept at the museum. We learnt about the beliefs of the Egyptians, cracked a code using hieroglyphs and we got to have a go at mummifying a body! Can you believe that they thought the brain was not important and threw it away?
Earning a pen licence is a proud moment. At Savile Park we award children a pen licence: a certificate that states that they are now allowed and expected to use ink for both their schoolwork and homework. ‘Pen licences formalise the transition from pencil to ink.
