Reception children learn through a play based curriculum where they are given the opportunity to talk, observe, plan, question, experiment, test, repeat, reflect and respond, independently, with peers or with adults. The EYFS provides children with the skills they need to progress onto Key Stage One which includes Year One and Year Two. The staff across these stages of development work closely together to ensure your child has the best possible experience of education right from the start.
Wren class went to the park as part of the big bird watch week. Last week the class were searching for birds in our outdoor area and couldn’t find any. As a class we thought of where we might see birds and decided that we might be able to see some in the park. Whilst we were there we saw lots of blackbirds and some pigeons. We also saw some smaller bird who had made their nests high in the trees. We used our binoculars and recorded the birds we saw on a chart.
